Ekiti Govt Approves ₦6.29bn for Major Road Rehabilitation in Ado-Ekiti

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved the sum of ₦6.29 billion for the rehabilitation of major township roads in Ado-Ekiti, a move aimed at improving traffic flow and boosting socio-economic activities within the state capital.

The decision was taken during the council’s second meeting, where members resolved to commence a new phase of road infrastructure upgrades across the state. The rehabilitation project is expected to ease transportation challenges and enhance the movement of people, goods, and services within the capital.

Among the roads approved for rehabilitation are the 2.8-kilometre dualized New Iyin–NTA Road, the 1.6-kilometre Onigari–Spotless Hotel–Egbewa Road, and the 3.5-kilometre dualized Ijigbo–Baptist High School Road, all located within Ado‑Ekiti.

Other roads included in the project are the 1.2-kilometer Okesa–Oke Ori Omi–Irona Road, the 5.4-kilometer Oke Iyinmi–Fajuyi–Police Headquarters Road, and the 1.6-kilometer dualized Ecobank–Mobil Filling Station, Ajilosun Road. The council also approved the rehabilitation of the 345-meter Ile Abiye–Bisi Egbeyemi Crescent–Government House Gate Road.

Officials said the initiative will form part of the administration’s broader commitment to strengthening infrastructure development, particularly within the state capital, where growing population and urban activities have increased pressure on existing road networks.

The government explained that the rehabilitation program will be implemented in phases, with the current approval representing a new stage in the ongoing urban road upgrade across the state. Additional phases are expected to commence in due course as the government continues efforts to modernize critical road infrastructure.

The council also approved several other development initiatives, including the renewal of a bank guarantee for the 3MW independent power plant project, renovation of public secondary schools affected by rainstorm damage, construction of buildings at the Gede Farm Settlement, and the approval of over ₦6.29 billion for the rehabilitation of key township roads in Ado-Ekiti to improve traffic flow and stimulate economic activities across the state capital.
