APC Declares Oye-Ikole Reps Primary Inconclusive, Announces Winners in Other Constituencies

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the House of Representatives primary election for the Oye-Ikole Federal Constituency in Ekiti State inconclusive, following controversies and crisis that disrupted the exercise.

Despite the setback in Oye-Ikole, the party’s Primary Election Committee announced winners across other federal constituencies in the state.

Chairman of the Committee and Chief Returning Officer, Asipa Wasiu Adedoyin, made the announcement on Sunday in Ado Ekiti, stating that the National Working Committee (NWC) would review the situation and make a final decision on the inconclusive Oye-Ikole primary.

Adedoyin emphasized that there is no provision for a rerun, noting that the party leadership would determine the next line of action in accordance with its rules and guidelines to ensure fairness and unity within the party.

Among the declared winners, Olusola Fatoba emerged victorious in Ado/Irepodun Federal Constituency after polling 8,943 votes to defeat Tope Ogunleye, who scored 1,760 votes.

In Ijero/Ekiti West/Efon Federal Constituency, Oladapo Karounwi secured victory with 6,573 votes, ahead of Biodun Omoleye (1,412 votes) and Victor Kolade (2,096 votes).

Toyin Okoro clinched the ticket for Ikere/Ekiti South West/Ise-Orun Federal Constituency, polling 9,798 votes to defeat Rufus Ojuawo and Idowu Alabi.

In Ekiti East/Emure/Gbonyin Federal Constituency, Femi Bamisile emerged winner with 4,379 votes, while Ibrahim Olarewaju won the Ilejemeje/Ido-Osi/Moba Federal Constituency with 6,856 votes, defeating incumbent Kolawole Akinlayo, who polled 2,102 votes.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the State APC Chairman, Olusola Eleshin, and other party leaders were present at the collation centre during the announcement of results.

The APC leadership is expected to make a final pronouncement on the Oye-Ikole Federal Constituency in the coming days.
