A Citizen’s response to Prof Alo’s malicious and childish allegations against Oyebanji
Your Childish, Malicious Allegations Won’t Deprive Oyebanji of Second Term, Activist Slams Prof Alo
A prominent activist and social reform expert, Dr. James Adesanya, has stoutly condemned those spewing spurious allegations against Governor Biodun Oyebanji to dwindle his popularity, dent his image and gain undue upper hands in the October 27, 2025 All Progressives Congress Governorship primary.
Dr Adesanya described Governor Oyebanji as an exceptionally prudent leader, with steely loyalty to leadership, and who can be trusted with power, branding the allegations of reckless loan acquisition and other underhand financial dealings leveled against the governor, as practically lacking in facts and substances.
The social activist and owner of Citizens And Social Reformation Centre , said this in his response to the series of allegations leveled against the governor by Ekiti Grassroots Development Initiative and signed by one Professor Alo Emmanuel Babatope .
Countering Prof Alo’s posturing that the governor had allegedly indulged in financial profligacy, Dr Adesanya, told the accuser in unambiguous terms that Governor Oyebanji has maintained strong fidelity to the 1999 Constitution in governing the state and never negated, nor breached the oath he took to uphold financial propriety in all his dealings.
The activist stated that as an Ekiti citizen, who has over the years monitored governance under the Oyebanji’s administration, he could categorically state that these allegations are not only baseless, mischievous, and politically motivated, but are also a calculated attempt to mislead the good people of Ekiti State and derail governance.
On the allegation that a staggering sum of N90 billion was cunningly secured by government as a loan, the social reform expert, described this as a misdirected venom coming from political obscurantist , who were rattled by Governor Oyebanji’s towering stature.
He stated that the governor has upheld and operated open door policy in all the financial dealings undertook by his administration, which he said stringently followed the laid down financial procedures.
He said: “The claim that Governor Oyebanji obtained a ₦90 billion bond without due process is false. All financial transactions of the State strictly comply with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the Ekiti State Fiscal Responsibility Law, and are subject to the oversight of the State House of Assembly, the Debt Management Office, and other relevant agencies.
“Governor Oyebanji has always been maintaining that his administration has not and will never commit the State to any financial obligation outside the bounds of transparency, accountability, and due process. In actions and deeds, he living up to these biddings and he has not faltered in any form”
Rapping the accusers further, Dr Adesanya, said it was not only laughable, but ludicrous, the phantom allegation raised that Governor Oyebanji is funding another political party, saying he remains a solid and unshakeable leader of the APC in Ekiti and Nigeria, whose loyalty remains solid for the ruling party.
He added that the Governor remains a loyal, committed, and proud member of the APC, whose records of service and alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, speaks volume and has become a recognisable proponent and preacher of these policies, targeted at routing poverty in Nigeria.
Dr. Adesanya stated that such fabrications, were clearly designed to cause a serious rift and unnecessary fissures within the APC family.
Dr Adesanya clarified that his organisation, which is apolitical, rose in defence of the governor, because it was enthralled and got fascinated with the Governor’s performance rating, and which the generality of Ekiti people have found highly satisfactory.
Cataloguing some of the areas where Oyebanji has done exceedingly well, Dr Adesanya, said the present administration rehabilitated and upgraded General Hospitals to a world class status, while Primary Health Centres and the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital have been revamped to ramp up access to quality healthcare for thousands of citizens.
He stated that Governor Oyebanji has also commenced and completed strategic road projects across the three senatorial districts, including State-funded roads, as well as complementary projects under Federal and World Bank-supported programmes like RAAMP.
Dr Adesanya saluted Oyebanji for adopting most strategic financial dealings and cleared outstanding pension arrears running into billions of naira, while also sustaining prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
To spiral the growth of the small scale enterprises at the grassroots, Dr Adesanya revealed that the governor has invested in power projects, while making remarkable exploits in youth empowerment, education reforms, and agriculture, with verifiable results on ground.
“One is not just spewing and concocting figures, these are facts that can be seen, touched, and attested to by the people of Ekiti State, unlike the accusers, who were making allegations that lacked substances and facts just to gain political capital”, he said.
He said Governor Oyebanji’s leadership and policy direction are heavily anchored on inclusiveness, accountability, and service delivery, saying the insinuations about “state capture” and “stomach infrastructure” are cheap political rhetoric with no bearing on the reality of governance in Ekiti State today.
Dr Adesanya urged Governor Oyebanji to remain focused and undaunted in the face of barrage of attacks and onslaughts being orchestrated against him by opponents, alleging that their mission is to derail governance, dwindle his popularity and make the people suffer, which he said must be prevented at all costs.
“The people of Ekiti State elected Governor Oyebanji to serve, not to trade insults. This administration remains focused on delivering tangible dividends of democracy, in alignment with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.
“We urge the public to disregard the falsehoods being peddled by politically sponsored groups, and to continue to support the government in its drive to build a more prosperous Ekiti State”, he advised.
