Donald Trump sworn in as 47th US President

Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States in a ceremony attended by his immediate predecessor Joe Biden, ex-presidents Barack Obama, George W Bush, Bill Clinton and former Vice President Mike Pence.

Kamala Harris, the immediate past Vice President and Democratic nominee during the last election also attended the event.

The ceremony was held indoors at the Capitol Rotunda due to extreme cold temperatures, making it the coldest Inauguration Day since 1985.

It was also the 60th presidential inauguration in the 250-year-old US democracy.

Newly sworn in US Vice President JD Vance was ushered into the Rotunda at exactly 5:40pm Nigerian time, while Trump entered at 5:43PM for the one-hour ceremony.

Trump was sworn in at exactly 6:02 pm Nigerian time with two Bibles by Chief Justice Robert. One is a personal Bible given to him by his mother in 1955, and another is the historic Lincoln Bible.
