Ekiti 2026: Afenifere Backs Oyebanji’s Re-Election, Lauds Devt Projects
A Pan -Yoruba socio-cultural and political group, Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG), has endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term owing to his impactful leadership that fully aligned with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria(DAWN).
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State group’s Coordinator, Elder Bunmi-Akanbi Awotiku said the series of endorsements for the governor’s re-election by groups, individuals and stakeholders, were well amplified testaments to his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the state and by extension the Yoruba region.
The group, who disclosed that the governor is one of the founding fathers of ARG, outlined his achievements that cut across all strata of the economy in line with his six-point agenda.
Justifying the endorsement, the ARG leader, said : “The Governor is our own product, he is one of us and he has been doing exceedingly well in Ekiti.
“We want to thank every strata of the society that has endorsed him for his second term. But we are not just endorsing him for the second term, we are endorsing him based on the document.
“Because we have a paper here, we call it Development Agenda for Western Nigeria and he is ticking all the boxes on transportation, health, social amenities, contact with the elderly, road networks. We are now looking at each of these things and we found him worthy and he has performed very well.
“I want to thank the Ekiti people for accepting him, for cooperating with him and for their understanding. So we are not just saying we want to endorse, we have a document that we have looked at page by page and we found out that he has not deviated from what we have in this document and we want to say thank you to him for being a good Omoluabi and a good representative of Afenifere Renewal Group.
“Looking at the roadmap, the 6 pillars of this administration – health; starting from primary health, he has done so well, renovation of the hospitals, provision of facilities and infrastructure to all the hospitals. And that is why we are saying that he ticked all the boxes in health sector.
“On transport, he has facilitated the construction of Ado-Iworoko road. It’s a plus to him and he is trying to reach out to the neighboring states for all the roads linking to the neighboring states.”
