Ekiti Govt Praises Traditional Rulers Over Improved Security, Peace

The Ekiti State Government has commended the traditional rulers for their partnership culminating in the improved security, political stability and widespread peace being savoured by the populace across the 16 Local Government areas of the state..

The government assured that Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration will continue to treat the royal fathers with utmost respect and shun any action that could degrade and demean royalty to sustain the sanctity and relevance of the traditional institution.

The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, gave the commendation in Emure Ekiti, Emure Local Government, on Saturday, during the first coronation anniversary of the Elemure- of Emure Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ajiboye.

Oba Ajiboye, a retired senior Customs Chief was installed in 2025, sequel to the vacancy occasioned by the demise of his predecessor, Oba Emmanuel Adebayo.

Overwhelmed by torrents of commendations being poured on the traditional ruler, Mrs Afuye, submitted that the continued and sustained collaboration between the government and the town halted the occasional cases of kidnappings and killings being witnessed in the town in time past.

Mrs Afuye, who appreciated the Emure indigenes, particularly the chiefs and eminent personalities for standing by the monarch, urged them to be vigilant and security conscious being a community that shares border posts with Supare Akoko and Emure Ile in Ondo State.

The Ekiti’s number two citizen said the Biodun Oyebanji-led administration will continue to accord the traditional rulers the deserved respect and as well inject them into the nucleus of his government where critical decisions that can reinforce security and development are taken.

Specifically, Mrs Afuye exalted the monarch for ushering in a new dawn of unity and peace in Emure township, saying he has demonstrated fairness to all the indigenes in his leadership, thereby promoting the spirit of oneness.

“You can all bear witness to the fact that Biodun Oyebanji-led administration considers our royal fathers as good and reliable partners in the running of an efficient government.

“This accounted for why this administration has allowed the kingmakers and ruling houses to take full and absolute charge of the processes for the selection of traditional rulers in towns where there were vacancies without undue interference.

“Since the advent of this administration, everything we undertook in the processes for the installation of any royal father always followed due process. I can boastfully and confidently say that there was no case of imposition raised against our government and we promise to continue in this respectable manner.

“I want to again appreciate Kabiyesi for the remarkable achievements he has brought to Emure Ekiti in the last 12 months. Within this short time, we have witnessed peace and stability in this town and we are happy about this. Before Kabiyesi assumed office, this town witnessed occasional cases of kidnappings, being a border town with Ondo State along Supare Akoko and Emure Ile axis.

“But I am happy that this government in collaboration with security agencies and the Elemure- in-council have been able to nip this fearful trend in the bud. We appeal to all the indigenes to continue to be security conscious and vigilant, so that the achievement we have made in the area of security of lives and property won’t be tampered with”.

Evaluating the last one year in Emure Ekiti, Mrs Afuye, said: “Our royal majesty, I thank God that the last one year has been memorable. It has been season of unity and peace. I appeal to you, continue to carry your people along in all your dealings and actions.

“Continue to be fair to all of them. This remains the best way to build an enduring legacy that can outlive you and make your reign memorable. In similar manner, I thank all the chiefs and well meaning indigenes of Emure Ekiti for standing firmly behind our royal Majesty. The good lord will continue to guide you aright”.

In his response, Oba Ajiboye applauded Governor Oyebanji and the security agencies for upscaling security networks in Emure axis and restored orderliness and peace, saying this helped him to accomplish some remarkable development within a spate of 12 months.

Similarly, the monarch saluted members of his council as well as his subjects across the globe for building a robust spirit of unity that has motivated him to navigate the path to lead the town effectively without frictions, appealing to them to sustain the tempo in the overall interest of the town.

Projecting into the future, Oba Ajiboye promised to be fair to all indigenes regardless of political affiliations and religious inclinations, pledging that building a town that can progress in all spheres would continue to dominate his thinking and actions.
