EKITI VARSITY TO HONOUR OYEBANJI, OTHER ALUMNI

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji will, on Sunday, be honoured alongside selected alumni by his alma mater, Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU).

According to a statement by the Registrar of the University, Ife Oluwole, the management of EKSU observed that one of the ways to identify with the Governor and acknowledge his contributions to the University is to honour him as a distinguished alumnus of the University.

The University Registrar described Governor Oyebanji as “an icon and a proud alumnus of EKSU”, adding that the Governor has contributed to the growth and development of the university and the country at large.

The grand reception, which is being organized by the University in collaboration with the alumni association, will be held in Abuja on Sunday, 11th February, 2024.

“The management of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU) has deemed it necessary to celebrate and honour some selected alumni, benefactors and friends of the University who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers and have contributed to the growth and development of the university and the country at large. Management observed that this is one of the ways the University could identify with you and acknowledge your contributions to the University”, Oluwole said.

Governor Oyebanji graduated from the Political Science department of the university in 1989. He started his career as a lecturer in the Political Science Department of the University in 1992.

The University’s Alumni Association reposes immense confidence in Governor Oyebanji, whom they believe could reposition the University as an alumnus.

The Governor had, recently, approved an increase in the subvention to the University and other State-owned tertiary institutions to surmount some of the challenges being faced by the institutions, especially EKSU. He has also directed that the University campus be connected to the state’s Independent Power Plant (IPP) as a way of solving its lingering electricity problem. These are in addition to other contributions he has made to the University.
