EKSU Alumni Holds Successful 12th Global Convention, Inducts Governor Oyebanji and Other Eminent Personalities into Hall of Fame

The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association has successfully concluded its 12th Global Convention, a two-day event marked by robust deliberations, reunions, and recognition of distinguished alumni who have made remarkable impacts in their various fields.
The convention commenced with a General/Business Meeting, during which the constitution of the Association underwent a comprehensive review by congres and was formally signed by the Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu, alongside the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Legal Adviser.
The second day of the convention began with a comprehensive health check exercise for members, emphasizing the Association’s commitment to the well-being of its members.
The main convention later took off in grand style with the arrival of notable dignitaries including the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, the Chancellor of EKSU, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Joseph Ayodele, and other principal officers of the University. Also in attendance were His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, and several other distinguished guests.
In his opening remarks, the Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu, welcomed members “back home” to their alma mater and highlighted the numerous achievements of the Global Executive Council in recent years. He further called on members to continue supporting the association’s developmental initiatives aimed at strengthening EKSU and fostering unity among alumni worldwide.
A major highlight of the convention was the public lecture delivered by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), who spoke on the theme “Beyond the Walls: Building Digital Bridges for Impact.” His lecture emphasized the importance of leveraging digital innovation to create lasting impact in society and among the alumni community.
The event also featured the induction of selected alumni into the EKSU Alumni Hall of Fame, honoring their outstanding achievements and service.
Among the inductees were Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, Dr. Kingsley Kuku (BoT Chairman of the Association), Barr. Tope Adebayo, Mr. Akinsanmi Falaki, Dr. (Chief) Omotayo Alle, and Dr. Soji Ehinlawo, among others.
The convention culminated in a colorful Gala and Dinner Night, where additional awards and decorations were presented to deserving members.
The 12th Global Convention reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous contribution to the progress of Ekiti State University and the broader society.
