The Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has told Ekiti citizens to expect more dividends of democracy from Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration in the 2025 fiscal year, saying efforts would be ramped up to extend the economic frontiers to all the populace.
This assurance came, as women in Ikere Ekiti, the second largest city in the state, promised to reciprocate the governor’s aggressive patronage exhibited towards the town, in terms of infrastructural facelift and political patronage, with massive votes during his reelection in 2026.
Mrs Afuye spoke on Tuesday, while distributing new year palliatives to Palace women popularly called “Oloris”, at the Akayeijo Royal Compound, Ikere Ekiti, Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State, in a statement signed by her Special Assistant on Media, Victor Ogunje.

Speaking during the interactive session, Mrs Afuye, appreciated Ikere citizens for standing by Governor Oyebanji to be able to deliver on his six-point agenda bordering on governance, job creation and youth development, agriculture and rural development, arts and culture and other thematic areas of development.
She stated that Governor Oyebanji considered Ekiti citizens as his employers, assuring that the governor will continually demonstrate respect to the people through inclusive governance and prudent spending of government’s money to put smiles on the faces of the populace.
“You all know that Governor Oyebanji used to say he prefers to spend government’s money to help the needy, than to be amassing wealth at their expense. This shows our governor is a good leader, a man of the people.
“This is the best legacy a leader can leave for himself. We, his disciples, we will continue to follow suit and imbibe this virtues of honesty, dignity and simplicity in leadership.
“Just be rest assured that the coming 2026 will be a better year in terms of delivery of democratic dividends to Ekiti citizens”.
Speaking about how fair the government has been to Ikere Ekiti, Mrs Afuye, said: “You can see that this government has been fair to Ikere Ekiti in road infrastructures and political appointments. Ikere Ekiti people must reciprocate this gesture with massive votes in 2026 governorship election”.
Mrs Afuye further remarked that the palliatives distributed to the women and other groups, were intended to appreciate them for backing the current government and to give them a sense of belonging at this yuletide season.
“On behalf of my boss, I appreciate all Ikere women and other good citizens for displaying love towards this government. We really value your support, love and prayers always. This is a little we can do to support you”.
Applauding the Deputy Governor on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chief (Mrs) Florence Adegboye, commended the working relationship between Governor Oyebanji and the Deputy Governor, saying such stability has profited the state.
Mrs Adegboye saluted Mrs Afuye’s generosity and promised that the women in Ikere Ekiti shall reciprocate the gesture with massive votes in the 2026 governorship poll.
“Governor Oyebanji has been a source of inspiration and benefit to us in Ikere Ekiti. Apart from making one of our daughters a deputy governor, he has done so many projects to benefit us economically and socially. We have no choice than to vote massively for him in 2026 to reciprocate his good gestures”.
