Ekiti CP pledges to flush out fake journalists
The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Joe Eribo has pledged to collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council to rid the state of fake Journalists.
CP Joe Eribo disclosed this on Wednesday during the January Edition of the NUJ Ekiti Congress.
He said the role and duties of Journalists cannot be overemphasized, stressing that they remain critical stakeholders in nation building.
Eribo seized the opportunity to call on Journalists to collaborate with the command in fighting crime in the State.
He also vowed to avail operational vehicle to the NUJ taskforce for the exercise.
His words: “Journalism is an important tool in the society and you represent the voiceless. The Journalist can make or mar you. In my own little way, I tend to be very close to you and be friends. Nobody is beyond mistake.
“We will keep our doors wide open so that anytime you can access us directly or through the State PRO. That synergy should be there because you are the crime fighters. For us to achieve results, we must come together.
“If there is anything you feel I can come in, feel free to let me know. The essence of living is to assist others. I want to work cordially with you and in doing so, the welfare aspect is also an integral part too.
“I am pledging my loyalty to this well-known institution and I am equally telling you that we are here to work for you. You will still help us to cross the t’s and dot the i’s.”
The newly reconstituted members of the Ekiti NUJ Taskforce Committee on Quackery include; Godwin Osubu as Chairman; Niyi Alade as Secretary; Sunkanmi Ogunmuko, Bunmi Ibiteye and Kolajo Oyeniyi as member.
