Iran fires missiles at US airbase in retaliation for Trump’s bombing
Iran has launched six missiles at the United States’ largest military base in the Middle East in response to Donald Trump’s bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.
According to DailyMailUK, the attack targeted Al Udeid airbase in Qatar, where more than 10,000 US troops are stationed alongside over 100 aircraft, strategic bombers, and tankers. Aerial defence systems were activated shortly after a ‘credible threat’ alert was issued, according to reports.
The missile barrage follows Tehran’s warning that the United States would “directly pay” for the strikes on its nuclear infrastructure, rather than standing behind Israel.
A senior Iranian official said the Islamic Republic was prepared for a war lasting up to two years.
In a statement, Tehran’s mission to the United Nations held the US, Israel, the United Kingdom, France, and the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency responsible, stating they will all “bear full responsibility for the death of innocent civilians in Iran.”
Tensions escalated after the Trump administration deployed 30,000-pound bunker buster bombs against Iranian nuclear sites on Saturday night.
The strikes were followed by President Trump’s remarks on Sunday raising the possibility of regime change in Iran—a move that provoked outrage in Tehran.
Iranian state media warned that up to 50,000 American soldiers could be “returned to Washington in coffins,” in what appears to be a stark warning of further retaliation.
Amid the heightened confrontation, Iranian outlets reported new Israeli strikes on the Fordow nuclear facility, while Israeli media said the IDF had targeted an access road to the site.
Israel also reportedly launched attacks on “regime targets” in Tehran, with claims that “hundreds” of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel were killed in a large-scale wave of airstrikes.
