Key into Oyebanji’s Friendly Policies to Remain Relevant, Ekiti Commissioner, Adedayo, Tells Youths

….as Gov visits LGs to interact with youths

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Gold Adesola Adedayo, has charged the youths to make themselves relevant through productive engagements with the inclusive governance being entrenched in Ekiti by Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Adedayo posited that it has been an established fact that Governor Oyebanji is running a youth-friendly government through effective policies and programmes that touched the lives of productive population, urging them to savour these window to attract more respect from government.

The Commissioner gave the charge in Ado Ekiti, on Friday, at a stakeholders’ meeting held as a prelude to Governor Oyebanji’s proposed Youth interactive forum across 16 Local Government areas, tagged :“Youths Lets Talk with Mr. Governor”.

Speaking during the interface, Adedayo said Oyebanji’s administration had demonstrated enormous commitment to galvanise the youth potentials and make them relevant in the scheme of things by making Youth Development and Job Creation as a strategic pillar of his policies.

The Commissioner opined that unbridled involvement in criminal activities like drug abuse, internet fraud, kidnapping and other nefarious acts that can rubbish the image of the state, may rob the youths of the deserved respect they ought to command.

Instead of indulgence in social media critics and unnecessary spewing of lies against the government, Adedayo called on the youths to use the opportunity of the interactive session with the government to seek clarifications on areas of interest to promote unity and peace in the state.

He said: “The proposed interactive programme is tailored towards improving social and emotional well-being of youths. It will provide opportunities for interested youths to engage in governance and participate in decision-making processes, instead of being on social media casting aspersions on policies they have little knowledge about.

“Youths across the State would have unfettered and limitless access to talk face -to -face with the Governor and ask questions. Governor Oyebanji would in the course of the programme, go round the Local Government Areas to engage with youths and have fruitful discussions with them as stakeholders and integral part of the society.

“I want to charge the youths to actively participate in the programme to voice out what they want from Government as well as having a chance to also understand the plans, programmes and activities of the current administration”, he added.

The commissioner stated that youths from all strata of the society, students, representatives of the drivers’ unions, commercial motorcyclists, and traders are expected to take part in the programme.

Present at the parley are: Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth Development, Special Assistants on Youth Development across the 16 local governments, the leadership of indigenous students, the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, the Chairman of Nigerian Youth Congress, the Speaker of the Ekiti Youth Parliament, the and Ministry officials.
