Police, Army Rescue All Abducted Family Victims In Bwari, FCT
The police say all the abducted family members alongside the family of the 400-level student, Naheeba Al-Kadriyar in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT Abuja have been rescued and reunited with their families.
In statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the FCT Command, Josephine Adeh, the abducted victims were rescued around Kajuru forest in Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria at about 11:30pm on Saturday,January 20, 2024.
The statement said the successful operation was made possible following the relentless advancement of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command Anti-Kidnapping squad and troops of the Nigerian Army,
The statement said the team has been on the heels of the abductors that struck the Zuma 1 area in Bwari Area Council on the 2nd of January, 2024 leading to the rescue of the victims who are now reunited with their families .
While appreciating the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun for the deployment of the newly commissioned Special Intervention Squad that has helped the existing security architecture in the Territory, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining the robust security deployment made in the area and other parts of the Territory for the utmost maintenance of peace for all residents.
Meanwhile, the four children of Alhassan Sidi and five members of his extended family as well as the family of the District Head of Kawu in the same Bwari Area Council are still with their abductors hoping on God and the intervention of the security and government to rescue them alive.
Their abductors had demanded the sum of N60 million as ransom for each of the families to secure their release.
