Sanwo-Olu hosts Southwest governors on security, others

 

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will host his counterparts from the Southwest today at Lagos House, Ikeja, for a crucial meeting.

The South West Governors expected are: Dapo Abiodun, Seyi Makinde, Ademola Adeleke, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Biodun Oyebanji, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti States respectively.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the gathering will focus on key regional concerns, including agriculture, food security, economic collaboration and security.

“The South West Governors’ Forum will discuss issues of common interest such as agriculture and food security, to advance economic growth, foster collaboration and enhance development initiatives in the zone. Security of lives and property will also be part of the agenda,”

This meeting follows a similar one held in Lagos on June 10, 2024, where Sanwo-Olu was unanimously appointed as chairman of the forum.

Under the leadership of Sanwo-Olu, the commissioner said the forum had prioritised policies aimed at strengthening regional development.

Omotoso said the upcoming session was expected to reinforce cooperation among Southwest states, ensuring coordinated efforts to tackle pressing challenges and improve governance in the region.
